Evergreen has parts holds, volume holds, and copy holds. Parts holds can be placed by patrons or staff in cases when a patron wants a particular part of title (e.g. volume or disk number). The part is selected on the create/edit hold screen when setting holds notification options, the subsequent hold is tied to holdings with identical parts attached to a single MARC (title) record. Volume holds are placed when a call number specific volume of a title is required. Staff (only) click to place hold on any items shown in holdings list, next to the call number. Volume holds are tied to Holdings with identical call numbers owned by the same library and attached to a single MARC (title) record. Copy hold are placed when a patron or staff want a specific copy of a title and are only filled by that specific item barcode.
